On 31 January 2018, the Australian Sports Commission's Deputy General Manager Digital Strategy & Insights advised the sport and recreation industry via the Clearinghouse for Sport's Daily News Service that "The Australian Sports Commission is in the midst of implementing a new strategy... to increase the activity of Australians" and in order to "evolve and transform our digital communications to better suit the needs of the sport and physical activity sector, and improve the sector’s data driven decision making capability" it is undertaking an evaluation of the Daily News Service to "to determine how we can best meet the data and evidence needs of our audiences and users."
However, the Australian Sports Commission has chosen to cease the Daily News Service whilst evaluating it. This is detrimental to the full range of its users (e.g. academia, government, not-for-profits, National Sporting Organisations, State Sporting Associations, volunteers and many others) and all Australians who participate in recreation and sport sector (participants, coaches, officials, volunteers, etc) for the full range of benefits it provides the Australian community (e.g. health, economic, environmental, social).
Your voice is sought to support those across the recreation and sport sector to continue to provide quality outcomes for the Australian community by letting the Australian Sports Commission and its Minister, The Hon. Greg Hunt MP, that this service needs immediate reinstatement.
In addition, the Australian Sports Commission's evaluation of the Daily News Service should engage with, and be released to, the full recreation and sport sector in Australia.
