I hope to see a review and increase of the pills currently listed on the pbs.

Currently there are limited contraceptives pills on the PBS with the most recent new addition dating back to 1992 despite significant advancements in its development over the past 27 years.

I spent some years living in England and during that time I was able to get the pill for free. The same pill that was costing close to $100 every three months here in Australia (I would note that Viagra and Cialis are listed on the pbs costing as little as $6.20 a packet).

I have spoken to many women who for them the pill is simply not an option due to the high costs associated with the ones that are best suited to them. The pill provides benefits to women seeking an easy to use, reliable contraceptive and alleviates the symptoms of heavy and painful periods and debilitating endometriosis (both of which can lead to monthly days off work). Its time to review the contraceptive pill listing on the PBS.
