For accredited Podiatric Surgeons to be recognised by Medicare

Podiatric Surgeons are titled Commonwealth Accredited Podiatric Surgeons and they are registered with the Health Insurance Commission, the Department of Health and Ageing and nationally listed as surgeons and specialists. All Podiatric Surgeons in Australia at this stage are Non-Medicare Providers. As there is no medicare benefit there is no health fund payment either. This means Surgeons fees, Hospital fees and Anaesthetist fees must be paid for by the patient.
As an aged pensioner, and there would be many who would be in a similar situation, this amount (estimated to be around $8000) is going to be difficult to provide.
