Earlier Bowel Cancer testing for Australians over 18 years old

The bowel cancer testing kit should be free and accessible to all those over the age of 18 years old through post, not those over the age of 50 - 74 years old.

This change will pick up any abnormal cells as more young Australians are being  diagnosed too late with Bowel Cancer.

We want more free access to testing to this disease. You are never too young to develop Bowel Cancer.

The reason this is so close to my heart is because on the 10th May 2020, my sister passed away at the young age of 35. From the date of diagnosis to her passing was a mere 5 weeks. 5 weeks to spend with her 3 young children, husband, family and friends. Unfortunately she was misdiagnosed for almost 10 years. She had all the symptoms, but was told that her symptoms were down to her pregnancies and coeliac disease (which she was never formally tested for) this could all have been avoided had there been more awareness and testing for young people.

Bowel Cancer Awareness Australia have been doing an amazing job in creating awareness with their Never2Young campaign. Please follow them on social media or visit their website on https://www.bowelcanceraustralia.org/  Or their Instagram @bowelcanceraustralia
