I was at MT Martha Beach (VICTORIA, Melbourne) Last Thursday 30th December 2021, and I was asking about the Matting and disable chairs, for access to the beach. I am disabled and in a wheelchair. I was told by the lifeguards that the matting and accessible wheelchairs are not being put out due to their “Insurance” and it was out of their hands. The lifeguards said to take it up with the Mornington shire Council. So, I was told to leave. I said to them why can able bodies go and disable people can’t go on. I was frustrated and angry that I couldn’t not gone on.
This is discrimination at all people with disabilities and I would like to be able to do something about it and spread the word out to get these beaches accessible once again. I even went to their opening for the Accessible beaches.
I am disappointed about this and really would like help in getting it all out.
