Choice Not Force Stop mask mandate & Vax incentives in Crowley, Texas
ALL we are asking for is choice.
The right to choose to wear a mask.
Nothing more & nothing less.
Yet, Superintendent of CISD, Mr. McFarland, has been pushing initiatives in our schools that not only are done without the proper & legal vote but, is not what the majority of the community (at last count 119) wants as well as being in direct violation of the State of Texas Governors executive order 36. First: Starting Wednesday August 11,2021 the superintendent UNLAWFULLY & WILLFULLY MANDATED MASK IN CISD EVEN THOUGH the district COVID-19
Dashboard shows no need. The superintendent & school board members continue to this date (October 12, 2021 they extened another 2 weeks) to mandate mask on all children in all schools. Every 2 weeks the superintendent extends the date by 2 weeks without a vote. Parents have spoken out at school board meetings, sent emails to the members, governor, attorney general, TEA, mayor & hired an attorney.
This is not what these parents/citizens of Crowley want for their children.
To teach them not question why?
To have no say in their rights as citizens of Crowley.
Petition excerpt: Crowley Independent School District is a public school district serving students in its defined area, and began school this year on August 12, 2021. 20. On July 29, 2021, Governor Greg Abbott (“Abbott”), issued executive order GA-38 which included the prohibition, “No governmental entity, including a county, city, school district, and public health authority, and no governmental official may require any person to wear a face covering or to mandate that another person wear a face covering [other than hospitals and jails]. See GA-38 also specifically superseded any face-covering requirement imposed by any local government entity or official, and made any such action illegal as a “failure to comply with” GA-38, and made individuals subject to a $100 fine. Furthermore, on September 17, 2021, The Texas Education Agency guidelines specifically prohibited masking students: On August 11, 2021, Defendant McFarland posted a video and text instructions, regarding the District’s new mask mandate, stating in relevant part: 4 of 60 Parents for Crowley Education, et al., v. Both the video and text statement went on to say: See Exhibit 2. 25. Nothing provided by the District specifies what constitutes a facemask.
Irrespective of the notice, none of the Schoolboard’s minutes record a vote to enforce a mask policy. Defendant McFarland appears to have unilaterally made the decision and issued it ex cathedra. However, because the notice states that the Board has given the mask policy its full support, and the only way that such policies are adopted are by a vote of the Board – the notice is an admission that the Board voted in private and reached consensus after a discussion.
This mask policy includes no exemptions based on religion, health, or conscience. CISD’ policy is shocking when one considers that the best – currently available – medical evidence indicates that children have not, and continue not to, play a role in the spread of COVID-19. Children are less likely to be infected with COVID-19, less likely to be symptomatic if infected with COVID-19, and less likely to spread infection of COVID-19, than adults.
My hope is that we as parents and tax paying residents of Crowley, Texas band together to remove Mr. McFarland (338k a year Crowley has 15k students), Ms. Andmia Hall, Mr. Gary Grassia, Ms. Nedra Robinson, Mr. Ryan Ray, Ms. June Davis & Ms. Latonya Mayfield and replace them with a superintendent and board members that truly care about the students. Who will focus on actually protecting the students & provide education of said students.
We want a school district that does not use its children as money making machines. Not a board that offers $1000.00 if staff can show proof of receiveing the covid19 vaccine. But with People who are transparent & are willing to truly work for the students & tax payers of Crowley.
To not having a board that demands mask yet do not wear them.
