If you haven't been informed about the incident behind Vanessa Guillen's death, then you are indeed living under a rock. Although she's been missing since late April (over two months ago), the public and media have finally caught up.

In a shallow grave thirty miles from Fort Hood, remains were found connecting back to the disappearance of the young soldier. When the suspect was finally tracked down, whom as well worked with the base, he shot himself. Vanessa has no voice to speak up on what happened on the day of her death, or any assault that could've happened prior. It is baffling to send your families off to base known to be the biggest and greatest, which ends up being the unsafest place to be.

Not only that, but it's clear to see that some soldiers may not be mentally fit. I'm not aware if it's due to treatment at the base, or just psychological problems, but this needs to be changed. In 2009 and 2014, shootings on the base occurred that the shooter was one of their own. These people of higher rank that many looked up to and admired, turned into their killer. Additionally, if you look up "Fort Hood death 20*insert decade here*", you will find endless and endless links to the mysterious deaths that have happened over the years.

What I believe we need is investigation behind the deaths, sexual assault, disappearances, and psychological standpoint of all the soldiers. The amount of mysterious deaths that have occurred and have been normalized is shocking, and we can't let our soldiers down. They fight for us, now we have to fight for them.
