Johnathan Alba started this petition to Governor of Texas Greg Abbott and

In ICE detention centers, detainees are treated as subhuman and live in horrible conditions. There should be an act created to encapsulate the guaranteed protection of detainees in these centers because they are supposed to be receiving rights and still aren't. The Cuidar Act (Cuidar means to care in Spanish) would ensure that all ICE detainees are being taken care of properly, the staff is held responsible for all sexual assault, rape, loss of children, mistreatment of detainees and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Children are being lost in centers. Women are raped and assaulted and the staff is not held responsible for their actions. Immigrants are being mistreated and are not even given their basic civil liberties as listed in the constitution. In the US Constitution it never explicitly says citizens are only protected under the constitution. It says people or persons, ensuring that anyone physically on US soil are allowed these rights however detainees seem to get the short end of the stick and are being mistreated by a corrupt criminal justice system. They are using a chemical and spraying it every 15 minutes and this is causing detainees to have irritated eyes and is dangerous to their health and breathing. Records are also being "lost" at these centers so it can be easier to get away with these crimes and loss of children or people and even the deaths occuring.

There is no social distancing in these detention centers and these people are being put at risk. ICE should be held responsible for all actions occurring at these horrendous facilities. The staff should be under direct surveillance and camera surveillance so their crimes will be accounted for and justice will be served. Detainees should be treated as humans and not animals locked in cages.
