Why this petition matters

Started by Harry Renninger

Today more than ever people are being scammed and limited from enjoying life because of price manipulation. Nvidia GPU's, AMD CPUs, X-Box, PS5 and many other consumer electronics such as parts, phones and other products are being majorly manipulated by selfish people because they are non-regulated items during the pandemic

For over a year millions of people have been buying out stock of items specifically to corner the market. Those same people are selling products at ridiculous margins due to the reduced supply chain that the COVID pandemic is causing.

Scalpers are raking in tens of thousands of dollars and on average selling a product at over 300% of its own value, it is not fair to the people of Texas that are attempting to buy products the right way.

This problem is so rampant that the President wants to look into what's wrong with the supply. The supply issue wouldn't be a problem if people manipulating the market were held accountable.

I petition Governor Greg Abbott to add consumer and commercial electronic devices to the list of items subject to the Texas’ Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA). This law limits any person or entity from selling a product over 10% of its fair value during a state of emergency, it is shocking that electronics have not been added to this law in the 21st century.

Please help curb this outrageous issue, show other states that there is a solution to the massive electronics "shortage" that is being created by so many willing to manipulate in order to rake in cash for themselves.
