Independent shops are what make Greenwich so special, taxing grocer's and florists etc could force them out of business. We should be doing everything we can to help them thrive.

We should support local shops rather than penalise them.

Unfair to local businesses in Greenwich; street displays aid footfall traffic and add to0000000000000000000000000000000000000000.

This will add another financial burden to businesses which are already struggling. Greenwich Council already has a sizeable surplus and doesn't need such a punitive source of income.

I am a local resident and I don't want to see any more local shops closing.

To:
Greenwich Council, Community Safety and Environment Team
I urge Greenwich Council to ensure we 'Keep Trade Local' by
removing the new ‘Street Trading Licence’ charge.

It is a tax on business and during these difficult economic times we need to ensure small businesses remain on the high street. The introduction of this charge would put jobs at risk and if alternative sources of funding are needed to balance the books perhaps the recent "Delivering the Council Priorities “ decisions in which the Council has one-off resources of £2.574m which are currently unallocated and are therefore available .. might have been thought about.

In addition, there has been no published evidence to support the assertion that businesses were consulted and wanted a 'level playing field'

Sincerely,

Hedley Shaw

I regularly use the butcher and the greengrocer because I always get a better deal and better quality than offered by supermarket chains. It's really important to keep small shops like these in business. Once they're gone, they never come back.

We need to encourage shop owners not penalise them. Too many shops in Eltham are now empty. Do not make life any harder for traders

Small businesses and café/restaurants need support and pavement displays or outside seating attract much needed custom. please abandon this unnecessary measure.
