Greenpoint, Brooklyn's local government officials: Please make WNYC Transmitter Park dog-friendly!

Before the creation of WNYC Transmitter Park, this area was an abandoned dirt pile where dogs ran freely and played. Currently, dogs are not allowed off-leash during the day (only before 9am and after 9pm) and no dog run was created in the space. We understand that families want to bring their children to play in the park, especially in the summer months. However, in the dead of winter, we dog owners are the only people who are frequenting WNYC Transmitter Park. That's why we are petitioning the local government to change its laws: Either increase off-leash hours and remove "no dogs on the grass" signs during the winter months OR add a dog run to the park. We believe that dog owners and families can play amicably together and share this beautiful, new outdoor space. Given that Greenpoint and Williamsburg have the greatest ratio of dogs to humans in all of NYC, we believe that this issue is important to our community. Thank you for helping us make our parks more inclusive, safe, and welcoming!
