Asha Patel started this petition to Greenpeace USA and

Traded the companies that are public already have an obligation to share important information about there business, but they haven’t. The people of the U.S. need to get congress to pay a bill that would enforce this and therefore force the business into admitting how climate change affects them and how they contribute to the problem. The bill would include companies that put a certain amount of emissions out per year have to pay a larger fee than present right now which might persuade some to find cleaner options. This fee would also be because those companies are hiding their information which should be publicized. The money obtained would go towards the climate crisis. Also in that bill would be that employment rates need to stay the same as the companies could take the money out of salaries and then cheat their way out. We are second in the world for the highest amount of carbon emissions in 2016 and contributed 16% to the world’s amount in total according to ucsusa.org, and this number is huge for a singular country and this has to change so our economy and our global health stays strong. Companies set goals but the government needs to help them out to reach them. This grassroots movement starts with the people and we need to stand up for our world since our government isn't. Ted Lieu needs the votes and we need the progress.
