Petitioning Marin Clean Energy Community Choice Aggregation

Greening the Planet Means NOT Feeding the Beast: CCA Needs to DIVEST in FossilFuels ... Get Shell Oil and Wall Street out of our clean energy future!

Marin Clean Energy, also known as Marin Energy Authority (MCE/MEA) is California's very first "Community Choice Aggregation" (CCA). Because Marin is the first county in the state of California to get out from under the thumb of a mega-utility and begin its own CCA, it sets an important precedent for the future of clean energy. Unfortunately, back in 2010, MEA chose Shell Oil to broker its "clean energy." Other CCAs in other states have already been infiltrated by the fossil fuel industry. But, the picture on this petition really is "worth a thousand words." SolarTimes (www.solartimes.org) and the Progressive Radio Network (www.progressiveradionetwork.com/political-analysis) have documented how Shell and other Big Energy interests are embedding themselves in "Community Choice" (conveniently offering "green cover" for their ongoing devastation of the planet), even as these same interests ramp up fossil fuel production with evermore destructive projects. These include massive investments in CO2-spewing tar sands projects and a huge surge in hydrofracking across the nation. We don't accept this "one percent solution" as the path to a "clean energy future," and we're very concerned that today, a new organization, known as LEAN Energy US, is working to spread the wrong energy model to even more cities and states across the US. We demand REAL clean energy solutions, including local generation of clean power and meaningful community input with respect to any and all outside energy providers.

ENERGY DEMOCRACY NOW!

Marin Clean Energy Community Choice Aggregation
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Marin Clean Energy

Get Shell Oil out of Marin's "clean energy future"

Marin Clean Energy/Marin Energy Authority (MCE/MEA) is California's very first "Community Choice Aggregation." Unfortunately, back in 2010, MEA chose Shell Oil to broker its "clean energy." Today, a new organization, known as LEAN Energy US is working to spread the Big Oil-backed energy model to other cities and states across the US. We demand REAL clean energy solutions, including local generation of clean power and meaningful community input with respect to any and all outside energy providers.
