Ashley Taylor started this petition to Greene County School Board

My daughter and a friend were called out in front of their peers for inappropriate dress code at school over leggings and a t shirt that covered their bottoms but because the shirt wasn't two inches below the fingertips this was an issue. I feel like this is an overstep to say the least, especially when we allow cheerleaders in short skirt uniforms and volleyball players in short, tight spandex underwear like shorts. Now I am in now way picking on sports players, but I think that with a high-school age student especially that this dress code needs to be more lenient. I feel that as long as there is no private areas showing and shorts/skirts are at an appropriate length the rest need to be left to the students/parents to decide what they wear. It's embarrassing to be called out amongst your peers at this age, and especially over something so ridiculous. I understand that dress code needs to be monitored to an extent, but I feel as though this has gotten out of hand. I am petitioning for the greene county dress code to be more lenient in as so to abolish the inches rule on shirts and shorts, that as long as there are no bottoms showing and the shirt is long enough to cover the bottom with leggings it should be deemed appropriate. Children, especially in today's events, have enough to worry about beside having to measure their clothes every morning as to not be called out publicly and shamed for clothing that is not even showing anything inappropriate.
