My daughter ('09) has played hockey since she was 4. She loves coed hockey and wouldn't prefer it any other way. When they are small the team changes in the dressing room together for games and practices. Cool. Fine with that.  However, once they reach the U10 level they are required to change in the alternate change room. Cool. I'm fine with that for the sake of privacy. However, these alternate rooms are the size of average size bedroom (12'x12') in a best case scenario. Some alternate rooms are the size of an average bathroom (5'x8'). You get the idea, it's small... On top of that, the girls have to change with the opposing team. It makes for some awkward situations dressing with kids that they don't know and to share a room after the game where one of the teams lost to the other. I'm requesting that there needs to be two alternate change rooms for girls at all times so the teams can dress seperatly (just like the boys) and to give them a full size change room (just like the boys) when an arena has 8-9 change rooms and the girls are stuck dressing/undressing in a closet size room, it isn't fair to them. To them, your saying, not enough girls play hockey and since you don't matter we will give one 1 very small room to share with the other team. As a parent of a girl I try to teach her about equal right and this is a perfect example of women not getting equal rights.
