Parents & Residents Great Neck Estates started this petition to Great Neck Estates Trustees

Dear Ira Ganzfried,

We first and foremost want to thank you for all of your hard work in making Great Neck Estates Park the special place that it is for all of our adults and families.
As a Trustee in the Village and Park’s Commissioner, we understand that setting the rules for pool usage, and designating times for lap swimmer’s, and time for free swim is no easy task.
We understand how challenging it can be to make an entire community happy and feel accommodated.
Although we understand the logic in wanting to get lap swimming out of the way early in the day, to leave time for free swim until 4pm, we strongly feel that this conflicts with young children’s daily meal schedules and downtime/naptime routines. Most children are up bright and early on weekends, as early as 6am, and most parents, given our limited summer days, are eager to get to the pool with their kids, most of whom are done swimming and ready for lunch/a break/and or a nap by 11:30am/noon time.
Many of us have gotten together and shared deep disappointment over the fact that we must keep our children home and entertained until noon, and then by the time they are allowed to swim, most of them are too tired and hungry to get ready to go swimming and have a good time.
As families who reside in this community, and given the fact that families with young children also comprise a majority of the population in Great Neck Estates, it is absolutely vital that our voice be heard, and changes be made to this schedule.
We propose limiting morning lap swim until 10 am or earlier. This is a more than reasonable suggestion, and it behooves everyone involved in the decision making process to understand the importance of changing the time and making it earlier. This should as a matter of fact be a topic that everyone has a voice in as taxpayers. It should have been voted on before the decision was made.
If you have any further questions or suggestions please do let us know.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
