Great Hearts Lakeside Safety Concerns

Great Hearts Lakeside Safety Concerns
The concerns below are in regards to the safety and security of our students and faculty at Great Hearts Lakeside Lower School and future Upper School.
Unfortunately, the lower school layout currently doesn’t offer adequate security. Anyone who is buzzed into our building from the front door has immediate access to all of our students and faculty. There are no doors that are kept securely locked between the office/entrance area and the classrooms. Our scholars and faculty are constantly walking through the front entry way to get to lunch, the nurse, upstairs classrooms and recess. The rooms immediately the the left of our entryway contain over 100 tiny kindergartners potentially in harms way. The lack of separation (ideally walls creating a hallway with locked doors that can only be opened with teacher/admin badges) must be addressed in a timely manner.
As parents and guardians of Great Hearts Lakeside scholars we request renovations to the current lower school (during or before the construction of the upper school) in order to modify this lack of safety. This could potentially save the lives of our children.
We also ask that the upper school be designed with safety considerations separating our scholars and faculty from the school entrance. The safety of our scholars should be above all else the most important concern when building the next phase of our campus.
Having our children receive an education at Great Hearts Lakeside is a true honor and privilege and we look forward to peace of mind when it comes to their safety within their daily learning environment.
