As one of the younger people in Grayshott i do also believe that it is an asset and i think it will always be if it gets up and running again and i really hope it does

The market is a great asset to the village. It brings people to the village and showcases what the village has to offer. It is exactly this kind of event that boosts trade by encouraging people to visit the village. If some traders are not taking advantage of this then they need to rethink how they do business. Cancelling the market will just reduce trade for all and be a bad decision for the village.

It should be more widely appreciated that a number of stall sites were offered free to given retailers who would potentially feel they would lose out, As I understand it this in some cases included, free sites, free staffing and even purchasing product from them for re-sale,
Also a selective barring of conflicting stalls! what else can one do?

The market can only enhance the village and bring money into Grayshott. What about operating on a Sunday? or offer the shopkeepers stalls at reduced rates to sell their goods on the stalls?

It promotes the village as a place to shop and visit not just on market day but all through the year.

The traders who complained hey were losing business made no effort to take advantage of the increased footfall, which should have been siezed as a business opportunity, and to cancel the market due to their poor business acumen is a bloody travesty

Having visited the market several times last year I was impressed with its friendly and relaxed atmosphere, whilst also being well organised. Having formerly lived in a small Devon village, which I still regularly visit, and been a member of the local business association, I can vouch for what can be achieved for the benefit of community and traders when an effort is made with new initiatives, such as the Grayshott market. It's a long term project and it would be a mistake to sign off after such a short trial run.
