The lifeguards have many important roles. They teach swimming lessons in the mornings at the lake, a crucial skill for children who live or visit Gravenhurst, as the town is located on two lakes. They guard the beach in the afternoons from July 1st to Labour Day Weekend creating a safe family friendly destination which leads to a wonderful community atmosphere. Last year alone there were two near drownings and several medical emergencies which were handled by the lifeguards. Lastly, the lifeguards clean the beach every morning and pick up cigarette butts, beer bottles and goose feces! The Town of Gravenhurst should keep this beach safe, clean and the site of community pride! It is a true gem that is well used by residents and visitors alike.
