Request a Revote for Five Days of School In Person at GVS
We all appreciate the difficult circumstances we find ourselves in during this pandemic. We also appreciate our GVS teachers and staff.
However, given the extremely low number of Covid cases in our town, and the negative effects many families and children are suffering under the 4-day model, we ask the Board of Education to immediately revote in favor of a full 5-day in person learning model with a 3 foot restrictions.
Our children need full-time in-person learning and physical exercise. In addition to the 5-day in-person model, we also request that children be allowed to play/mingle (while masked) on the playground prior to the start of school day as they have in years past. Many of the attention and behavior issues currently being manifested in many of our children are largely a product of the highly restricted schedule they need to abide by.
We know that the 4-day model and 6 foot restrictions are to keep everyone at GVS safe, but given the currently low number of cases in our town (and the extremely low rate of new positives and transmissions), we ask that we return to normal as soon as possible. Other schools in our region (with far greater numbers of cases) are thriving in the 5-day model - we can too.
