Grant immigrants legal status

Grant immigrants legal status
Today I am talking about immigration reform, specifically in the Hispanic community. The reason why this is such a big problem is because immigrants aren’t given the opportunity to become citizens of the United States. Causing to close many doors for them. Making them feel unwanted by this country. This broken system has caused their pain and suffering. They are afraid to get a speeding ticket, to get stopped by the police, to go to court. Afraid of it being the last time they get to see their children and leaving them without anyone else being able to care for them. No one should ever have to feel like that.
What if I told you we could change that? We have tools that we can use to work on this issue. Beginning with getting informed, one of which you are doing right now but also taking some time of your day to read an article relevant to the issue. Also Speaking up by informing your friends, family and peers about what you learned today. Joining with others at Rallies, protests, even a benefit event. Or even watch a movie with friends to get informed about the reality of immigrants lives. Or simply by sharing on social media your ideas and your support for this cause. You can volunteer in programs around your community. Lastly vote, vote for someone that is going to help us with the progression in immigration reform.
According to the Washington Post, “Two-thirds of 10 million undocumented immigrants in the United States have lived here for more than a decade.” I need you all to put yourselves in their perspective. Imagine getting sent to a country that you didn’t know anything about. Getting kicked out of the only home you knew because of your status. That place that you thought was home is no longer there for you. What do we all have in common that makes us American but does not make these immigrants American? Most who have lived here all of their lives if not most. Who worked hard with their sweat and tears for this country, they do the jobs Americans won’t do. Who contributes to society. Who went to school here to get an education because in their native home they didn’t receive these opportunities. And although this process is slow we can help change it if we keep on fighting for these immigrants. There are multiple ways in which we can all help. Today I encourage you all to choose one of the things from the list I gave, Just one. And you will help be part of this change.
