Keep KPEP out!!!
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
KPEP is trying to open a 150 bed facility for court appointed felons to be rehabilitated. The facility will have an open policy for its residents to leave and look for jobs daily. This facility would serve as a halfway house for drug offenders and possibly sex offenders. KPEP has recently taken over the handling of registered sex offenders for Kent county and if this facility opens it would be their only one in Kent county. Currently it is being portrayed as co-ed housing but when questioned during the meeting the owner of KPEP did not deny the possibility of that changing. The KPEP program has a huge fail rate with the owner saying 2/3 complete the program the other 1/3 get sent back to jail for violating parole. The area we live in is not ideal for this population, with drugs being right on the other side of Burton those violating their parole could easily steal from the Alger Heights residents and go buy their drugs across the street. The police at the meeting were even concerned asking what is the call volume around your facilities and the owner of KPEP once again was unable to answer the question. The residents will use public transportation so they will walk through our neighborhood's I would like everyone to please sign in opposition to keep KPEP out of our neighborhood!
