Remove Betsy DeVos from Granada Hills Charter High School Diploma
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
As part of GHC's Class of 2018, I have grown tremendously in the past 4 years. I, along with the rest of my class, have spent countless days and nights working hard. Soon, we will receive our prize: the diploma.
Our diploma will be a symbol of all of our hard work, successes, and failures we went through as high school students. Unfortunately, this same diploma is set to include the name and signature of the U.S. Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos.
I strongly believe that she does not represent our hard work or our experiences as students in the public education system. She nor her children have ever attended a public institution, and she has stated on multiple occasions that she does not value a public education for all students across the United States. She has shown on multiple confirmation hearings with Congress that she is unfit for the job. Even now, 1 year since her appointment, she continues to show a lack of knowledge and passion for education.
It is infuriating that DeVos's name and signature are needed to validate the hard work that the Class of 2018 showed the past 4 years. With this, I ask Granada Hills Charter High School administrators to give its students the option to remove or replace the Secretary of Education's name and signature from their diploma.
