Everyone has the right to clean water right?
Well the Goondiwindi regional council Australia does not agree.
Water to the township of Bungunya is pumped directly from the Weir river or the Yarrawanna creek, no filtration or water treatment is in place.
The water to the township is nothing short of putrid, the smell resembles a over flowing septic tank. Rain is short and far between out here so rainwater is not always available to substitute the town water, this is water we are expected to bath our children in and wash our clothes.
Bungunya is a small town west of Goondiwindi Queensland Australia , approximately 28 people reside in the town, we have a local primary school in Bungunya, surrounded by grain and cattle farms.
Numerous coversations have been made with the council regarding our water and the illnesses at risk to our children and ourselves, response from council was the town does not generate any money and is full of dole bludgers and pensioners so nothing will change to the water. 70% of our community are working so council had no right to just brush us away with false lies and refusing to help the community.
All we ask for is access to clean water, in this day and age and country we live in that should be something we can access.
Mayor Graham Scheu can make this happen instead of pretending we don't exist, I ask you this Mayor would you bath in this water? Would you put your grandchildren in this water?
No you won't, so why are you making us?
