For years, Strawberry milk was the highlight of MCPS lunch. It accounted for 18% of all milk consumption, more than white milk. So why was it so suddenly taken away in 2013? Because it contained red dye-40, that leads to hyperactivity and ADHD. My friends and I were thinking: it’s 2017, there has to be a solution. And Damian Munson, Matt Raker, and Andres Quintenilla found it. That solution is beet juice powder. It is a substitute for Red dye-40. It is used in Nesquik strawberry milk and is a good substitute for the artificial coloring. We want our milk back. Over 200 students signed a hand written petition, and it’s time to go global. Sign this petition and get all 159,010 students their strawberry milk back!
