A child (Sibananda Roy) of age 7 years is living under great mental pressure, staying away from his nearest and dearest one. Presently, he is residing at ‘Kishalaya’, an orphanage home at Barasat, West Bengal managed by the Department of Social Welfare @& Justice, West Bengal Govt.. Here is the story of the boy….

He was born in a higher middle class family. His father is Sankar Roy and mother is Late Dr. Asima Dhar Roy. Mr. Monoranjan Dhar, who died on December 14, 2016 is grandfather (Asima’s father) of Sibananda. In 2008, Sankar married to Asima. Since their marriage, Asima was tortured by her husband and also she noticed her husband is a characterless person. Asima left her husband when the boy, Sibananda was around 3 months due to the intolerable torture and ruthless behavior of her husband and started living with her father, Mr. Monoranjan Dhar at his house in 1 no. Mukundapur, Kolkata (separated from her husband). Dr. Asima filed a case under Domestic Violence Act against her husband (hearing is going on). Unfortunately, Asima died in a cause of incurious disease on April 30, 2015. The most pathetic incident is the child’s father never took any responsibility (the basic needs of the child for living livelihood) of his son such as education, medical support, food, cloth, and place of living. Essentially the child was completely deprived of his father’s affection and responsibility. In this situation, Mr. Monoranjan Dhar, being a life-member of ‘Naba Janakalyan Samity’ (Registered under act XXVI of 1961) gave a written request to ‘Naba Janakalyan Samity’ to provide all livelihood supports to Sibananda Roy, because Mr. Dhar was suffering from age related problems and was unable to taking care of his grandson. Since, May 1, 2015, Sibananda Roy (the child) was staying at ‘Naba Janakalyan Samity’. The organization was very much responsible in providing all livelihood supports such as daily livelihood, education, and health support. During his stay he was very happy and became very close to the members of the organization. Everybody treated the child as their own son. Apparently, Sibananda got a new life after losing his mother and grandfather.

Here is the present situation…..
In the end of 2016, Mr. Sankar Roy started claiming his son and wanted to keep Sibananda with him, hence he moved to Child Welfare committee (CWC). On March 10, 2017, CWC took the custody of the child with the help of Jadavpur Police Station from ‘Naba Janakalyan Samity’. According to Mr. Sibaprasad Bhadra of ‘Naba Janakalyan Samity’, the boy Sibananda was crying (scared and traumatized with the present situation) while he was forced to move away from his new family members by the police and members of CWC. It’s very saddened, no one cares the mental situation of the child. Sibaprasad also added, ‘the child told he does not know his father’ in front of the chairperson of CWC. Now, the child is under great mental trauma and staying under the supervision of CWC at ‘Kishalaya’ home at Barasat, West Bengal.

Demand:
1. Rescue the child from mental agony which destroys his childhood and may cause an irreversible damage to his life. Save the child!!
2. The child should be kept under safe custody (like ‘Naba Janakalyan Samity’, where he also wanted to stay), where he should get a free livelihood environment.
3. The child should be kept away from his father (Sibananda could not recognize his father). A person who did not care for his new born baby and wife, does not deserve any mercy or chance to get the custody of the child.
4. Ensure the education and health support of the child. We propose to keep him in reputed institution such as ‘Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission’ or make him back to ‘Naba Janakalyan Samity’.
5. Make sure the child is happy. Please Save this Child!!
