Pension for BHEL retirees.

  1. Pension scheme was introduced in CPSEs from 1-1-2007. The benefit was restricted to those on rolls on that date. All those who retired prior to 1-1-2007. This means all those who joined PSUs in early 60/70s and who retired after serving CPSEs for 30/40 years are deprived of basic sustenance. This is arbitrary and discriminatory and violative of Art 14 and 21 of our Constitution. Dept.of Public Enterprises, is not able to.justify its action in denying pension to the veterans pathfinders and pioneers who laid the foundation for the growth and success of the Maharatna companies. DPE promised that the 3rd Pay Revision Committee. But to our disappointment the Report is silent. We have been.writing to PMO/DPE/BHEL but of no avail. We want public to support our cause. We served the cause of public sector under most difficult conditions in sites where construction activities were going on at very low salaries..Many of us left the safe haven of pensionable service to.join the nascent public enterprises. We were there when the foundation was laid, machines erected and production began. We wrote the history of these public enterprises and we were part of its long history. Our salary was meagre, PF accumulation was very small. We retired at the age of 58 (not 60), and the gratuity was limited to Rs one lakh (now it is 20 lakh). We live on interest income. Interest rate has fallen from 16℅ in 1995 to 7.5℅ now. But prices have gone up by 600℅. Most of us are above 75 and we lead a life of poverty, misery and hopelessness.

Constitution guarantees not only equality but also a right to live with dignity and honour.

We request PMO to intervene and render justice. Thank you all for your support.
