PRAYERS FOR ‘A STATE OF ART PUBLIC LIBRARY’ IN VILLAGE BETAUNA, BLOCK-BENIPATTI, DIST-MADHUBANI (BIHAR)- 847223 IN THE INTEREST OF ECONOMICALLY, SOCIALLY STRESSED CLASS OF SOCIETY:
Respected Sir/Madam,
BRIEF INTRODUCTION:
Betauna is one of the remote village panchayat of Benipatti Block, District Madhubani (Bihar)-847223 having a total population of about 5000. In particular, Village Betauna has a population of about 3000. Out of the total population, there is a sizeable population of scheduled Castes (around 16%) living cordially and harmoniously with the other sections of society. The villagers, despite predominantly engaged in agricultural activities with hardly 17% irrigated area from flood-affected cultivated land and paltry source of income from seasonal efflux to the major Indian cities, have carved its niche by raising its literacy rate to 55 % from an abysmally low literacy rate of 44% a decade back. But it’s still way below the state and national average of around 70% and 78% respectively.
RICH HERITAGE:
As briefed in the intro part, this village Panchayat, despite having the least source of income arising out of perennial natural calamities in the form of Floods as well as Drought, is home to personalities of diverse backgrounds. It has been in practice since time immemorial that despite all hardships, parents of this village manage their livelihood in quite meagre situation to provide ample opportunities to their wards to get higher education and by their sustained efforts to raise the level of education, this village has been producing a number of good students with promising results in Secondary, Higher secondary as well as in various competitive examinations all over India.
It’s heartening to share that despite poor economic conditions thriving in this particular Panchayat, distressed and foresighted parents used to send their deprived wards to the nearest Urban Agglomerations like Madhubani, Darbhanga and even dare to send students to Patna, Delhi for better exposure and access to various academic/competitive books, magazines, journals, etc. As a result, this village has produced many Engineers, Doctors, Chartered Accountants, Academics, Bureaucrats, Senior officers in Central as well as State Governments(CSS cadre, BPSC, Income-tax, Central Excise/Customs), Armed Forces and Technocrats/Managers in several MNCs. The audacity of the poor residents of this flood-affected village to encroach upon the niche of Elites, privileged citizens of this country having their wards at places having all the infrastructures, logistics and premiere institutions with state of art library could be seen from the fact that despite poor resources, students of Betauna has created their own niche amongst contemporaries but a sizeable number of downtrodden class still needs an upliftment.
CONCERNS EMANATING OUT OF CURRENT SCENARIOS:
At the outset, it won’t be impractical to discuss the things which every Indian has been witnessing in the recent past and it’s nothing but mass exodus to the cities. If somebody thinks that it has been happening due to fascination with urban life then it may not be the true picture but delusionary sights. If a resident won’t be able to provide quality education to the ward with their sluggish agricultural activities, they have to think of other available options and arrange money so as to send their wards to the nearest cities to get the proper educational infrastructure in the form of Standard books, magazines, etc and LIBRARY. There may be several reasons for mass exodus but the above circumstances cannot be ruled out as one prime reason, out of many unknown reasons. Hence they are compelled to throng cities and do the menial jobs with the sole purpose of arranging something sufficient for his cause that’s nothing but living graciously with the fellow inhabitants of the village with a hope of bringing repute to society in overall well-being.
Betauna as like other villages, in the vicinity, also has been facing the same set of problems and concerns. Gone are the days when agricultural yields were sufficient to feed families and bring quality education to the doorstep. Betauna, being home to various personalities as indicated in the para hereinabove, during the span of seven decades after independence, couldn’t expand its education base from rich and affluent to the downtrodden who are economically, socially fragile and didn’t have enough resources to dream big and achieve laurel to the Betauna as like as other fellow inhabitants. Had the village Betauna been a place where a good LIBRARY would have been there for its students and book-lovers, this village would have not only brought laurels to the nation but could also have set an example of the village which our beloved Bapu Ji once dreamt of about the place where, in the true sense, India’s soul lies.
REQUEST TO LIKELY SAVIOUR:
In order to bring the literacy rate of the village Betauna well around the national average, I’d like to request you to provide sufficient infrastructure, logistics, and resources so as to build a new state of art public library which in one way pave way for not only the impartial education of underprivileged and downtrodden but also uplift the morale of the poor dwellers who always think Education, by and large, is the only domain of Elites & privileged class and the poor daily wagers, landless residents can not even dream with paltry money. INCEPTION OF A PUBLIC LIBRARY IN EACH VILLAGE, AT LEAST UP TO THE LEVEL OF PANCHAYAT, WOULD NOT ONLY PROMOTE EDUCATION TO THE NEXT RECKONING LEVEL BUT WOULD ALSO BRING OVERALL PROSPERITY TO THE NATION.
WITH THIS PRAYER, I WOULD LIKE VILLAGE BETAUNA, UNDER BLOCK- BENIPATTI, DIST-MADHUBANI (BIHAR)-847223 TO BE PROVIDED A STATE OF ART PUBLIC LIBRARY AT THE EARLIEST. FOR THESE NOBLE SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEEDS, THE WHOLE INHABITANTS OF THE VILLAGE WOULD BE EVER GRATEFUL AND BE LEADING PARTICIPANTS OF ANY CAUSE IN THE INTEREST OF THE VILLAGE, STATE, AND THE NATION.
EARLY REDRESSAL OF THE CONCERN WILL HIGHLY BE SOLICITED.
Thanking you in anticipation.
