DO NOT DEMOLISH OUTSTANDING FRESHFIELD NURSERY SCHOOL

This petition had 373 supporters

Governors are very aggrieved and concerned that one of the main ideas being considered by LA officers to increase the number of primary places in the Heatons is to build a primary school on the land to the rear of Freshfield Nursery School.

Access to this land would almost certainly mean demolishing Freshfield Nursery School and relocating it on the field as part of the primary school development. Over the last 4 years, 4 nursery schools in Stockport that have been relocated in this way have now closed! The Governors and the community cannot let this happen to our highly achieving school!
This what Ofsted said about our nursery school in January 2012:

“This is an outstanding nursery school. Children’s achievement is outstanding as they make excellent progress from their starting points.”

“The nursery is a valuable resource and is central in the community providing a wide range of invaluable and supportive activities for parents, carers and families.”

Closure would rob us of a priceless community asset. We now urge parents, carers and members of the Heatons community as a matter of urgency, to halt these ideas in their tracks.

ACT NOW BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE
