On August 31, 2021 Governor Wolf  - after being vetoed - took it upon himself to go to the Department of Health and create a Mask Mandate for all students K-12, daycares, and preschools in PA. Although the abrasive word “Mandate” is used, in his own statement he clearly says it remains up to the districts. Although it is encouraged by Governor Wolf, it is not Law and we will not be coerced or forced to shut up with fear tactics. Masks have been proven time and time again to not even work!

Our children are enrolled in public education to LEARN - and our teachers are there to teach; not disciplining or threatening their students for not wearing masks. Let them do the job they LOVE. Anyone in Child Development can tell you that Masks are detrimental to the growth of a child’s self esteem, social cues, and peer understanding.

PA legislature is trying to pass the bill for the opt out clause and every single one of us will sign it and encourage others to do so as well. A parent should have the right to choose what is best for our children to be safe mentally, emotionally, and physically.

If the school board and superintendent are going to let a small majority intimidate the entire district and speak for the rest of us then the silent majority will just have to start making their voices be heard and it starts with this petition. Now is the time for us all to come together and stand up for our children to keep masks OPTIONAL for all Kiski Area Students!
