Lauren Irving started this petition to Governor Whitmer

Governor Whitmer started the Future for Frontliners program to give frontline workers without a college degree free college tuition.

Many Registered Nurses (who have college degrees and do not qualify for any free future education) have been working under hazardous conditions with inadequate PPE and have not received hazard pay.  We have had to re-use N-95 that were reprocessed by experimental methods and not guaranteed that they would be safe to use during the peak of the pandemic. Some nurses have had to wear the same N-95 for as long as 30 days. Registered nurses among other healthcare workers haven't had access to adequate testing or sick paid time off.  Due to many hospitals having financial issues during the pandemic, some registered nurses have even been laid off or furloughed causing a financial burden.

Many Registered Nurses at local hospitals have even had to purchase their own PPE spending their own money while working in a pandemic (such as a P-100 Respirator, goggles, and other equipment). Many Nurses have also incurred costs of temporary housing having to temporarily quarantine away from their families. Nurses who have contracted covid due to being on the front lines have incurred significant healthcare costs.

What I am asking is that the licensing renewal fee for Registered Nurses in Michigan ($128.50) to be waved for at least the next two years. I am asking Governor Whitmer to put this into motion as soon as possible.

Thanks for your consideration and support.
