This law needs to be changed! There is no way to prove you are under the influence of marijuana at the time of injury at work. Say you had marijuana over the weekend not working and you get hurt the day you go back to work, you weren’t under the influence at the time but a drug test would say you had it in your system. Employers should not be able to tell you what to do with your body in YOUR free time. You should not be fired for doing something that is legal. It’s your body your choice.If you get caught at work and they can tell you are under the influence then they should be able to but if they don’t have the red eyes and can still do their job leave them alone. For some people marijuana helps with anxiety and depression. Some people who smoke marijuana (myself) do get their work done and sometimes even work harder than the people that don’t smoke it. I have found myself in multiple situations where I can’t get a good job because I do something that is legal. So since I smoke marijuana I have to be poor forever and can’t have a good paying job with good benefits for me and my family? Something is definitely wrong there, so if you believe workplaces shouldn’t be able to fire you for marijuana usage off the job SIGN NOW!
