As you know, Kentucky's public pension plan is in crisis because of a huge unfunded liability. The KERS non-hazardous fund could become insolvent in as little as three years. The only solution is for the state to begin making its full actuarially required contribution. We appreciate your personal involvement in working with legislative leaders on this critical issue. Finding a funding solution can't wait another year.

Governor Beshear: Please urge the legislature to pass HB 416 and sign the bill when it passes.

Letter to
Governor, Commonwealth of Kentucky Steve Beshear
Kentucky Governor
I am writing to request that you continue to work closely with the legislature on HB 416 and that you sign it upon its passage. As you know, our pension system is critically underfunded. The KERS non-hazardous fund could become insolvent in as little as three years. It is essential that a dedicated funding source be agreed upon now so that full actuarially required contributions could begin next fiscal year. I urge you to continue to negotiate a successful resolution to this matter and, upon its passage, sign HB 416.
