Save Pewitts Nest in Baraboo, Wisconsin
This petition had 5,816 supporters
A few years back the Sauk County zoning and the City of Baraboo started to expand retail locations on Hwy. 12 with the Big box stores like Walmart. Then along came the State of Wisconsin and they decided to reroute Hwy 12 and Bypass a tourist city in our state causing many local businesses financial hardship. In the process of all this expansion and the new bypass it has created a serious waste water, oil, salt, other wastes to runoff into skillet creek and its destroyed a very popular tourist attraction and a top rated State Landmark just outside of Baraboo off Cty W called Pewitts Nest. This is where skillet creek empties into a natural waterfall of what used to be crystal clear water. This pollution needs to stop and the State and County need to address the runoff issue into Pewitts Nest to save our treasure. This attraction along with a few others brings tourists into the City of Baraboo and helps local businesses survive in this competitive economy. Baraboo isn't a Wisconsin Dells with all the money they have and we the people of Baraboo want the Pewitts Nest saved from all the runoff and pollution created by the new bypass. Please sign this petition and share with others so we can get in the hands of the State of Wisconsin and the idiots that decided on the bypass idea. Thanks for your time in this matter.
