Extend Disaster Snap in Miami Dade County

The Department of Children and Families (DCF), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), has implemented the Food for Florida Disaster Food Assistance Program in 24 counties to date to assist those affected by Hurricane Irma. Food for Florida has elicited an unprecedented and extraordinary response from families recovering from Hurricane Irma.
Many people have waited in lines for over 24 hours to only later be turned away because the Disaster Snap lines were over capacity. Only one week to serve one county, especially such a large county as Miami Dade. Many families were turned away and unable to receive the help they needed even after camping out over night. Some locations such Amelia Earhart were closed even before the week ended.
I urge Dcf and the USDA to extend and open these sites for another week to give those that were unable to be served an opportunity to be attended in Miami Dade and if possible Broward County. Please sign this petition and let our voices be heard.
