SSWC/Chatham water is corrosive and causing damage in our homes or to our health.

Chatham residents have been experiencing significant expenses to their health and homes due to the corrosive water coming from the South Sangamon Water Commission Water Plant. Data presented at the Village of Chatham Committee Meeting in February 2016 proved the water is corrosive.

The corrosive water has damaged faucets, sinks, tubs, spouts, shower heads, hot water heaters, hoses, pipes and other items where the water sits for any period of time. In addition, we believe the chemical feeds and proprietary blend is causing an increase in health issues such as hair loss, rashes and skin issues resembling chemical burns.

We understand the cost of our water is only going to increase as many more improvements have been planned for the water plant. We do not want to continue to fund any more repairs, chemicals or equipment cost for our water supplier as we understand these issues will not ever be resolved to give us the quality we had with our previous water supplier, CWLP (City Water Light and Power.)

We request aggressive legal action be pursued against any individual or group who failed to protect the Village of Chatham from this water supply causing damage to our health and homes. We also request immediate action be taken to rid of this water supply so we can restore the value of our assets and prevent any further damage to the health of ourselves and our families.
