Hello, my name is Rebecca Caldwell. I currently have 4 boys ages 17, 10, 7, and 5 in the Charleston Illinois school district. In coles county we are seeing higher Covid cases than the beginning of the pandemic. I am petitioning to advocate for an option of remote learning. I am 45 years old and immunocomprised. I have diabetes, asthma, and Graves disease. Although vaccinated, if I were to catch a breakthrough case, my chances of serious disease are very high. Remote learning should be available for those who are at such high risk. There are so many families like mine who are taking a big risk when sending their kids to school. Already this year we have been quarantined 3 times due to exposure. It's not only nerve wracking to me but to my children. They know the risk. They have been tested atleast 15 times per child. I am petitioning Governor JB pritzer and the Charleston Il school board to consider this option, especially for children who live in such high risk households.
