Dauna DeMarsico Jendrek started this petition to State of New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and

[As of June 1, 2021] Adult Day Programs for Adults with Disabilities within New Jersey are being held to the previous guidelines instead of the most current of the Center for Disease Control Covid Guidelines. This is unfair, biased, ignorant, and discriminatory of The State of New Jersey. We're asking Governor Phil Murphy, Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli, Ombudsman for Individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities and Their Families Paul Aronsohn, and Assistant Commissioner of the Division of Developmental Disabilities Jonathan Seifried, to work together in: OPENING PROGRAMS NOW WITH 100% CAPACITY, WITHOUT DISTANCING AND REMOVING MASK MANDATES; ASSURING YOUR COMMITMENT TO YOUR CONSTITUENTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES ARE INCLUDED NOW AND SO FORTH IN EQUITABLE TREATMENT INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DURING A STATE-WIDE CRISIS.

Adults with Developmental Disabilities (defined by the state of New Jersey as age 21 and older) should be provided with equitable treatment alongside every other individual. Developmentally Disabled Adults are not asking for special treatment, we want equity now. The state of New Jersey needs to stop discriminating against the developmentally disabled population (21+). We need to ensure this will never happen again. New Jersey DDD should reopen adult day programs at 100% capacity immediately. Our population of those with disabilities in New Jersey is one of the highest in our country. We believe that together we can commit to better honor and uphold higher standards for all of those with disabilities.

[As of April 21, 2021] the DDD sent out an update for the programs to be opened but with limited capacity. Similar to other mandates, yet still not enough.

_

[As of April 5, 2021] Adult Day Programs should be opened at 100% capacity (dependent on the day program facility, not the state guidelines JUST like state-funded public schools) for options to be provided in order to attend programs virtually, hybrid, or in-person, financial support for day program facilities. Restrictions to be removed from the transportation guidelines for us who have developmental disabilities ages 21+ during the Covid-19 pandemic.Day programs, as well as other business, school, indoor or outdoor events, operating, are tied to Gov. Murphy’s executive orders with limited capacity. The DDD (Division of Developmental Disability) Adult Day Programs are only at partial capacity. The explanation of why is disrespectful and discriminatory. There are no other therapeutic state programs that are being limited in capacity.
