Why this petition matters

Started by Susan Sciarretto

Dear Governor Murphy:

The state of unemployment in NJ is intolerable. There are people who have had NO INCOME WHATSOEVER for 4 months. Families are going hungry. The self-employed and small business owners are desperate. You're keeping the state closed but keeping people from the assistance they have been promised and earned at the same time. Not only that, but the phone numbers for information require HUNDREDS of attempts,  some people have called thousands of times only to be told call volume is too high...before unemployment is even open. The directions are unclear and one misstep puts you in unemployment purgatory. No one gets the same answer twice when they do get through.

We have heard from you, Governor,  deflecting questions at your news conferences along with the Head of the Department of Labor about these issues. We've been looking to you for help and you're ignoring us. YES, we understand there's a crisis level of people filing, but the issues that everyone are facing could be relieved by ACCURATE information. The unemployment website does not provide enough clear, concise, accurate information to be a valuable resource.

NJ NEEDS HELP NOW, GOVERNOR, not excuses!! Please stop ignoring us because it's a difficult situation. We're all desperate and want to avoid any non-peaceful behaviors or actions because the people are beyond frustrated.

Sincerely,

The Unemployed of the State of NJ
