28 years old Hina Shahnawaz was brutally murdered by her paternal cousin at her home in Usterzai Payan Kohat, Pakistan for refusing to quit working for a NGO. Prime minister of Pakistan and concerned authorities are earnestly requested to facilitate speedy justice in the case. Hina is not the first person who is made to suffer for making a career choice. Other NGO workers and polio vaccination workers have also been targeted in the past. Use of weapon ensures that the victim if survives never dares to work again and other women also do not venture into career. Coldblooded murder of Hina Shanawaz has left her family members and friends in a deep state of shock and terror. No one may be able to even ask for justice for her out of the fear of meeting the same fate. Please join hands for the sanctity of life, to make her murder be the last one. It is important to realize that Pakistan is a developing country and when a woman gets higher education and works, she contributes to the development. Considering it a threat to honour is simply insane and needs to dealt with immediate exercise of law.
It is time that all of us demonstrate our moral courage through signing this petition. This petition is an effort to express loudly and clearly that:
1. Every life is precious and no one has the right to end it in the name of honour and get away with it.
2. Women have the right to make their career choices
3. Families headed by women or just comprising of women are not weak and law enforcing agencies can and will provide more speedy justice for them so that other women in the country do not get exploited in the same manner
