RICHARD MARTIN started this petition to Governor of Virginia, the Honorable Ralph S. Northam and

My name is Rodney Lee Gill. I have been incarcerated for more than 24 years for taking someone's life during my youth. Although the victim lost their life due to an accidental shooting, I was and am solely responsible for the result of my actions on that fateful day.

I filed a Petition for a Conditional Pardon more than four years ago with the Governor of Virginia seeking grace and forgiveness of the victim’s family as well as everyone else that has been affected by my actions. I have made a firm resolve never to return to a life of crime ever again.

During the past 24 years, I have enrolled in numerous vocational trades as well as self-improvement classes offered here in the Department of Corrections to help better myself mentally. I seek to pay it forward by mentoring troubled youth and at-risk adults who do not realize the destructive force behind making bad life choices.

Please help me earn a second chance in life by assisting with getting this petition widely distributed via every form of media available. Thank you for your compassion.

In accordance with Article 1, Section 12 of the Constitution, we exercise our right to petition the Governor of Virginia, the Honorable Ralph S. Northam to grant mercy and forgiveness to prisoner Rodney Lee Gill Inmate No. 1011403. We seek Mr. Gill's grant of Clemency under Va. Code Section 53.1-229 et seq. We strongly believe that Mr. Gill's release will not pose any threat or risk of danger to our community. After serving over 24 years in prison, we declare that Mr. Gill has been punished enough for his criminal convictions and that his societal debt should be forgiven. Mr. Gill has been a model inmate and we believe that he will be an asset to the community by being a mentor to at-risk youth, and a productive law-abiding citizen. Our signatures to this public petition represent our full support of the foregoing declarations:
