Suspend the Victorian Parliament immediately to investigate allegations of fraud

In recent weeks and months there have been serious allegations of “rorting” by members of the (currently governing) ALP during the election process. These activities, if they had been committed by private corporations, would be referred to as “Obtaining financial advantage by deception”, “False Accounting”, “Falsification of Documents”, “Theft” or other similar offences. Under the Victorian Crimes Act 1958, any persons charged with these offences would face up to 10 years prison per offence. If found guilty, that person would then be ineligible to be elected to State Parliament.
There is more than enough reason for the Governor to suspend or even sack the government, given around half of the currently governing party is implicated. The ombudsman’s report is a clear list of the allegations and evidence, all of which should stand up in a court of law. All that needs to happen is for the DPP to lay charges against the individuals and bring the allegations before the appropriate Law Court to be fairly tested.
To the Honorable Governor of Victoria, Ms Linda Dessau, I call upon you to act now to restore faith in our political system. Immediately suspend this parliament until the eligibility of all elected members to serve has been tested fully and fairly.
