“Now, more than ever, communities need safe, healthy outlets that challenge the
mind and body. All racquet sports do just that. Tennis, platform tennis, pickle ball
etc. can be played keeping a safe social distance. Facemasks and gloves can even be worn while playing. Please consider opening up public racquet sport facilities." These are great interactive family sports as well as competitive sports.  They are also sports that require acuity and practice, it would be a shame to lose the emotional and physical component that they bring to our citizens.  Tennis is also a sport that juniors can aspire to achieve college scholarships for, but not if they are unable to train. Where will the great athletes of tomorrow come from if we don't nurture and develop them today?  Additionally, teaching professionals are suffering dramatic income loss. The USTA has created a document for playing tennis safely and with the implementation of these practices, integrating safe distance and sanitizing protocols the environment can be a great refuge from the pandemic. Please see the attached document and please consider.
