Face coverings should not be required for K-12 students returning to school in the fall.

Wearing masks is detrimental to learning.  Face masks will affect attention as well as the ability to read facial expressions and social cues. It is unrealistic for our children to wear a face mask during school, and asking too much especially in young children.

Everyone wants school to be back in session, but it should only resume normally. If parents are uncomfortable sending their children without masks, distance learning should be an option, not the other way around.  Wearing masks will affect all aspects of learning-socially, emotionally, as well as educationally. If young children do not feel comfortable, they will not take risks in any of the above learning.

Our children have been greatly affected by Covid, asking parents to send our children to school with a mask is by no means normal. If this cannot happen, distance learning should continue until further notice.
