Jane Doe started this petition to Governor Mike Parsons

We can't rid the world of racism but by putting in place effective checks and balances to hold people accountable you can help prevent these wrongful deaths at the hands of police.

1) Being a police officer needs to require at a minimum an Associates 2 year degree program. This program would not just teach the justice system but sociology and psychology. This would give these individuals more interpersonal tools to diffuse hostile situations without violence.

2) One and done rule. As a teacher if you beat a kid you can't teach any longer. Same should apply for police officers. While this is harder to monitor if you were to have an ethics board for every municipality made up of citizens, pastors as well as some elected officials that made decisions on these matters rather than leaving discipline to be handed down from a police chief (preventing the protecting their own.)

3.) Real training. Cops are under trained in hand to hand combat training. The police need a bare minimum of 4 days a week of live training in hand to hand and restraint techniques. Their lack of training is the sole cause of their fear. Proper training removes that fear and we no longer have to hear the "I feared for my life" excuse.

4.) Get rid of Qualified Immunity. Police officers currently cannot be sued directly for their actions. So they have little to no consequences for their actions.

Police departments, officers, anyone employed by the dept is found to have lied, covered up or otherwise prevented justice then the dept can be sued. But tax payers will not be footing the bill. All funds awarded by the court come directly from their pension. This will keep the police officers from protecting the bad apples.

5.) All officers are paired up. Another reason for their fear is being alone. This is entirely unacceptable as it's entirely avoidable.

6.) Body cams and dash cams on at all times.
