Nathan Asbury started this petition to Governor Mike DeWine and

Every day hundreds of Ohio students turn 16. Most of them have spent the past 6 months taking driver’s education and driving the mandatory 50 hours to obtain their licenses. It's a right of passage and a dream come true for many of these students and a necessity to travel to work or engage in volunteer activities. However, due to the recent COVID-19 crisis, the Ohio BMV testing facilities have been closed for nearly 2 months. Ohio extended an order until the end of May, delaying any possible road tests for another month.

There is a solution to this problem. In Georgia, they allowed all eligible teens, (those who completed all requirements except the final driver’s test) obtain license due to the closing of their state's testing facilities. To incorporate this in Ohio would stop a surge of teens who want to get their license once the state finally opens.

Please sign this position in support of an executive order by Governor DeWine to permit those who have completed their education and mandatory driving time to automatically obtain their driver’s license.
