Exempt Ohio Chronic Pain Patients from the 2016 CDC OPIOID GUIDELINES

Exempt Ohio Chronic Pain Patients from the 2016 CDC OPIOID GUIDELINES
Why this petition matters

Law Abiding Citizens of Ohio with legitimate chronic pain conditions are being undertreated or denied opioid pain relief due to the 2016 CDC Opioid Guidelines. These guidelines were never intended to be applied to people with chronic pain or end of life care. Due to the misapplication of these guidelines, doctors are scared to prescribe adequate pain treatment or opioids at all. People are being driven to the street or choosing suicide instead or enduring horrible, irretractable pain day after day. Once productive citizens have lost their careers, homes and quality of life because they are unable to access much needed pain medication. Many patients have tried conservative treatment and non-opioid options with no success, leaving them only to suffer. Pain relief is a human right that is currently being denied to many chronic pain patients in the state of Ohio. Treatment of people's medical conditions should be between patients and doctors, not dictated by guidelines as a one size fits all approach. We are asking that you exempt chronic pain patients from the limits imposed by the CDC Opioid guidelines. Please restore humane medical treatment for those with chronic pain.
