With the threat of Covid-19 comes a mental health crisis of fear, worry, and chronic health issues and conditions. Recommendations from the CDC suggest that regular exercise is a critical part of coping with stress. In an effort to maintain our mental and physical health, we propose re-opening our fitness facilities, while closely following social distancing protocol to further prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The closure of gyms across the state are putting people at risk for poor physical and mental health, as many individuals rely on such facilities to boost immunity and promote overall health and well-being. Just as chiropractors and vitamin stores like GNC are considered essential for preventative maintenance of health, so too should fitness facilities be considered essential.

We propose that gyms can be utilized safely by increasing sanitation stations and cleaning schedules, as well as controlling the amount of traffic through the facility by scheduling fitness classes for 10 people or less, and mapping out the floor plan to comply with social distancing standards.
