In 2019, the Federal Reserve reported that the median wealth for a White family of four was $188,200 while the median wealth for a Black family of four was only $24,100. The average Black Family only has 12 percent of the wealth as the average White Family in 2021. This racial wealth gap was created by numerous laws and policies throughout U.S history that have systematically blocked African Americans from enjoying economic security. The widening racial gap has a horrible effect on the health, income and life expectancy of African Americans who currently live in formerly redlined communities throughout the United States. This campaign will inform the public and lawmakers on the importance of ending the racial wealth gap. This campaign demands the creation of policies, procedures, and legislation that undoes the previous harm done and closes the racial wealth gap for the Black community. Support this petition if you want lawmakers to pass and enforce bold policies to close the unjust racial wealth gap.
