On Friday, September 25, 2020, my dearest brother in law Charles “Chuck” Edward Kernells, lll, went to his final resting place due to severe depression and mental illness.  The weeks leading up to this tragedy for our family, we begged pleaded and did everything we could to get him help. Unfortunately due to laws in the state of Alabama there was no hope for us to get him the help he desperately needed. I truly believe in my heart this outcome could have been different had their been laws set up to help us a family get him the help he needed. He struggled with own demons and we knew if something or someone didn’t intervene and help us help him this would be the outcome. My husband, his only brother, my mother in law, sister in law and myself begged for help and I was literally laughed at by deputies with Baldwin County Sherrif office who told me to call them back out here when there was actually a real emergency. I said to them “what when we need a hearse?” This is wrong in so many the ways the pain his children are feeling and his entire family and friends. I am asking everyone to join me and my family in staring “Chucks Law” to be put in place to help prevent this from happening to another family. Please remember everyone your thoughts and prayers, and thank you for your support.
